 Happy New Year!
There are a number of Universal Principles that we find as comforting as annoying. One of those is that the only constant in the Universe is change. I am sure that none of you expected your church to wrap up 2011 or start off 2012 without a minister in residence, but here we are!
I first walked through your doors over six years ago. I was attending a concert and remember stopping at the doorway into the sanctuary overwhelmed with a feeling of belonging. I cannot explain why I felt attached to you then, but I did, still do and for some reason seem to keep showing up! Since then I have attended other events at the church, but also served you as a guest speaker. In fact, I was the last guest speaker before Rev. Linda Dominik took up residence.
The fact that I am also the first guest speaker after her departure has not escaped my notice, nor was it unintentional. Your board wisely sought someone many of you know to help provide a measure of stability while you work through the next steps on your path. I am honored and humbled to have been selected to stand by you through this process and will do my best for you while I am with you.
I am not a Unity minister, nor do I expect be in the future. I am a licensed minister with Centers for Spiritual Living, formerly Religious Science, and teach the Science of Mind (SOM) principles with which so many of you are already familiar. We are more alike than dissimilar in our beliefs. In fact, the differences are fairly inconsequential and I expect you will find very little different on Sundays.
We all need to be reminded of our core beliefs by which we live our lives. This is no less important for the church as it begins its search for your new minister. There will be four talks in January which are basic New Thought principles taught in Unity and SOM. Why? Because those of you who are long-time Unity students can use a reminder of the basic foundations of your faith and the new members can use the education so that you can all move forward together as a united congregation.
These reminders and education will enable you to stand strong and confident in your search. I know in Divine Mind that your right and perfect minister is already being magnetically drawn to you as you are to her or him. I am honored to stand before you to assist in whatever way I can during this process. Thank you for having me here! If there is some way I can support you personally, please contact me! In Spirit, Truth and Playfulness,
Terry
