Imagine walking into a group of 90 “strangers” representing 16 Unity churches from Massachusetts to Virginia and immediately feeling like you have a new family. That’s how our teens Christopher and Kate and I felt at the Y.O.U. Rally in Maryland this past weekend. We had a mix of spiritual and recreational activities to bond with each other and to grow. Many participants felt comfortable enough to share very personal challenges publicly and to open themselves to all our love and support. Fun activities included a dance, rock wall, gaga ball, archery, joy songs, and the popular talent show, where Christopher surprised us all by beatboxing. We recognized the graduates, including Christopher, in a ceremony, after which there were many tears. Everyone felt tired but so fulfilled when we finished Sunday afternoon.
